My predicted nursery trends for 2022
It’s a new year and a perfect time to talk about upcoming trends for 2022.
One of the most exciting milestones in your life is becoming a parent and with that comes the fun of designing your baby’s nursery. I love seeing what trends might emerge over the year and what predictions people make. Equally, I think it’s important to understand that trends come and go and so whatever style or trend you choose, my suggestion would be to make it your own and add your own unique stamp.
Nursery’s are becoming a place for real expressions of style, character and personality and whilst nursery design trends vary from year to year some themes stay timeless whilst others grow in popularity.
Here I have listed my predicted top 5 trends that, I think, will dominate nursery design in 2022.
1. Woodland Theme
This is a firm favourite for many and dominates pinterest boards and Google searches when it comes to nursery themes. It is a great gender-neutral option and can be enchanting and elegant and whimsical in equal measure.
There are so many variations of design to choose from within this trend that there are endless ways of personalising it. This is one of my most requested nursery themes and it can be undeniably beautiful and serene.
2. Stars and Star Related Designs
Stars make a celestial statement and designs include one or all of the following stars, crescent moons, planets, clouds, the sun and much more.
This trend can be easily combined with so many other themes and design ideas to create a truly inspiring and magical nursery. Stars symbolise purity, good luck, ambition and new beginnings. Perfect for any nursery.
3. The Colour Green
In recent years white, black and monochrome colours have been popular but I’m seeing colour making its way back in. This is either in the form of a statement wall or border or picking a colour for the entire room. I’ve definitely seen green increasing in popularity with many of my murals being painted on, or with, various shades or tones of green. It’s also my favourite colour - I LOVE green!
It creates a beautiful background to work on and combines really well with soft whites, creams, pinks and autumnal colours. The colour is most obviously associated with nature and perfect for forests, woodland and jungle themes.
4. Rainbows
This is such a whimsical and delightful theme. Rainbows are a consistently popular choice. Be that one large rainbow on a feature wall or a wallpaper effect with many small rainbow designs. This theme can be incorporated in many different ways and in many different colours to suit your individual style. Remember, at the end of every rainbow there is a pot of gold …….
5. Boho
This really is a one of a kind theme, which can be interpreted in so many different ways. What has tended to be described as vintage, eclectic and hippy is now being interpreted in a modern and fresh way.
Traditional boho styles are being combined with a contemporary edge giving it a fresher and more casual feel. Just look at this beautiful boho style mural from www.withlovedarina.com. I’m so in love with it.
Ultimately, any parent’s goal will be to create a nursery that feels beautiful and peaceful. After all, you’ll be spending a lot of time in there so make it a space that you love being in! A place you can retreat to and make special memories.
Take a trend, combine it with another, personalise it, simply use it as inspiration or even completely ignore the trend - you decide.
